A wristband needs to be practical to wear and carry clear information. Gather the current template, complete printer model, and sample photos, marking fields that must be displayed in full. Fictitious sample data is sufficient; real patient or attendee details are not needed.
Show dimensions, print areas, and closures in one drawing
Confirm total dimensions, printable area, and closure area, and mark feed direction, positioning marks, and text orientation. Do not treat the full band width as printable width or place numbers over holes, folds, or closures. The supplier and template owner should approve boundaries on the same drawing.
Check adult, child, and different material styles separately. A similar appearance does not mean an identical printable area. Recheck text, barcodes, and clear space whenever dimensions change.
Test layout limits with longer fields
Use longer fictitious names, organization names, identifiers, and notes to check truncation, unexpected line breaks, and obscured content. Specify required fields, text size, line counts, and information order. Check barcode content separately from adjacent readable text rather than assuming they match by sight.
For a QR code, explain whether it represents a unique number, website address, or other business data. Determine its size and clear space from encoding rules and actual reading requirements. A decorative screen mockup does not replace scanning a printed sample.
Print continuously and retain settings with samples
Print continuously on the intended printer, observing positioning on the first band, during successive feeds, and after reloading. Record media batch, printing method, resolution, template version, and actual settings rather than retaining just one clear sample.
Scan with project devices and compare returned data with the business display. For blur or drift, check the template, media, and equipment settings separately before adjusting the relevant item. Retain drawings, templates, settings, reading results, and approved samples for acceptance and replenishment. Recheck affected items after material, size, or equipment changes.
